Amazon/Flipkart (which are owned by foreign entities i.e. a case of FDI) can purchase goods which are manufactured in India and can store it in their own name (as inventory) and can export these goods. But for domestic sale, still FDI in Retail is not permitted in inventory based model.

But as per the above news now: " FDI in e-commerce is permitted in inventory-based model of ecommerce exclusively for the EXPORT of goods/products manufactured and/or produced in India "
